Meet Monika

I believe in people’s ability to change and grow. As a counselor, I provide my clients with a safe and supportive space to process difficult emotions and experiences, and help them develop a greater sense of self-awareness and understanding. While working with people experiencing variety of emotional difficulties, I noticed that social relationships are among the most important factors contributing to their overall well-being and life satisfaction.

I trust that individuals can learn to better understand each other’s perspective, express their feelings and needs, develop strategies for managing disagreements in a constructive way, and build satisfying future together. I want to be a part of your journey and accompany you along the way.

My name is Monika Koptyra. I obtained my first Master’s Degree in Social Psychology from the prestigious SWPS Social Sciences and Humanities University in Warsaw, Poland. To advance my career I moved to Philadelphia where I received my second Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from La Salle University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavioral Consultant with over 15 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including outpatient specialty clinics and IBHS. My professional work provided me the opportunity to work with individuals across the life span in the areas of anxiety, mood disorders, career counseling, parenting, stress, anger management, self-esteem, and sleep problems. I have been working with children and adolescents with special needs, as well as, those experiencing mental, behavioral and emotional difficulties.

In my professional practice I emphasize a holistic and integrative approach to mental health. I utilize variety of techniques and skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Behavior Modification, Mindfulness and Relaxation.

I believe in empowering my clients to help them find their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. Together, we focus on identifying all aspects of clients’ life that impact their well-being, such as: physical health, support systems, work or school environment, and spirituality. My main goal is to help my clients to find motivation and courage to seek growth so they will improve their well-being and reach their full potential.
