Meet Karolina

I am passionate about working with women as I believe that being a woman can be very challenging. I found my passion years ago when women’s mental health was undermined and dismissed. When I became a mom I realized that working with woman and moms is my true calling, indeed. Since then, I have spent years researching and learning about the feminist and women psychology, as well as, maternal mental health and I have shared my passion, my knowledge, and my support to many women searching for the new meaning, adjusting to the life changes, or struggling with finding themselves in fast a pacing and constantly changing reality.

When you are ready, please get in touch. I would love to hear your story and help you to live a life that you have always wanted to have.

My name is Karolina Lazarov. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavior Specialist. I was born in Poland where I earned my first graduate degree in Applied Clinical Psychology. When in Poland, I was trained in Cognitive-Behavioral and Psychodynamic Therapy, as well as, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness. I had a chance to work at the Youth & College Students Counseling Center and State Police Headquarters mentoring, diagnosing, and counseling female police officers while using Trauma Informed Care as my treatment framework. I also gained excessive training in Postpartum Depression / Baby Blues during my Post-Graduate fellowship at the County Public Hospital and became involved in a research project studying prenatal attachment between mothers and their unborn children, as well as, the healing process of mother’s psychotherapy after birth of a child

To advance my career, I decided to move to Philadelphia where I obtained my second graduate degree in Professional Counseling Psychology and became a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavior Consultant. I was trained in Mindfulness, ACT, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, as well as, perinatal and postpartum related disorders and difficulties with transitioning and adjusting to the new life demands.

For the past 10 years, I have been working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with adjustment, life transitioning, depression, anxiety, OCD, perinatal disorders, relationship difficulties, family conflicts, and parent-child struggles in a variety of settings, such as Tree of Life Outpatient Behavioral Clinic, Presbyterian Children’s Village, Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment – E/D and Mood D/O units, PA Mentor Wrap-around, and Estadt Psychological Services.  As a Behavior Specialist, I have been working with children and teenagers diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, emotional and social difficulties, as well as, adjustment and transitioning issues.

As a foreigner myself, I use my multicultural background in every day practice and strongly believe in empowering teenagers, young adults, mothers, and professionals, struggling with adjusting and transitioning to new stages in life and its demands.  I counsel college students and young adults who tend to feel lost and overwhelmed with school, careers, and life decisions that they need to make. I cooperate with immigrants and foreigners coming from diverse populations and backgrounds who need to adjust to living in a foreign country far away from their families and friends.

I am highly trained in perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders through Postpartum Support International and I am currently preparing to take the exam to obtain a Certification in Perinatal Mental Health through PSI, as well as, becoming a Certified Happiest Baby Educator. I am listed as a Motherfigure and PSI provider, and belong to Mahmee Network to support and improve maternal and child accessibility to healthcare.

I have been featured in many Polish newspapers and magazines, as well as, Philadelphia Inquirer and marriage.com portal as the featured expert on issues including: postpartum period and maternal mental health, transitioning into adulthood, and adjusting to social distancing and quarantine in times of pandemic.

I am fluent in Polish and I am highly engaged in helping Polish community in Philadelphia and surrounding areas!
