Meet Karolina

I am so glad you are here and want me to be a part of your journey!

My passion for this work has always been within me. Becoming a mother myself showed me firsthand how incredible—and at times overwhelming, lonely and isolating—this journey can be. My personal experiences with feeling gaslight, minimized, and many times dismissed only deepened my desire to support women, moms, and moms-to-be, to feel truly seen, heard, and understood, especially when life feels heavy or uncertain.

Being a therapist isn’t just my job—it’s who I am. I get it—life can feel heavy. We’re juggling so much, trying to be everything for everyone, holding it together even when we’re tired, unsure, or stretched thin. Between life changes, relationships, and motherhood, it’s a lot. And yet, so many of us go through it quietly, without the support we really need and deserve.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, especially when it seems like everyone else has it all together. Maybe your days are packed with responsibilities, or you’re going through a season that’s just plain hard. Maybe you feel like you’ve lost touch with who you really are. I’m here for you—the real you, the one you don’t always feel safe showing the world.

Therapy with me isn’t one-size-fits-all. I take the time to understand you, your story, and what truly matters to you.

Together, we’ll make sense of what’s on your mind, explore your feelings, and find practical and realistic ways to help you feel more in control.

This is your space, where you’re seen, heard, and supported. When you’re ready, I’m here to listen!

My background

I’m Karolina Lazarov, M.S, M.A, LPC, LBS, PMH-C – a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Behavior Consultant and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapist.

I was born in Poland where I earned my first graduate degree in Applied Clinical Psychology. When in Poland, I had a chance to work at the Youth & College Students Counseling Center, State Police Headquarters, Community Behavioral Health and hospital settings. I gained excessive training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders during my Post-Graduate fellowship at the County Public Hospital and became involved in a research project studying prenatal attachment between mothers and their unborn children, as well as, the healing process of mother’s psychotherapy after a birth of a child.

To advance my career, I decided to move to Philadelphia where I obtained my second graduate degree in Professional Counseling Psychology and became a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavior Specialist. I was trained in Mindfulness, ACT, Strength-Based and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) for depression, anxiety, trauma, as well as, perinatal and postpartum related disorders, infertility, birth trauma and difficulties with transitioning and adjusting to motherhood.

For the past 15 years, I have been providing therapy for women struggling with adjustment and life transitioning, depression, anxiety, OCD, perinatal mental health, infertility, relationship difficulties, family conflicts, and parent-child struggles in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

I am highly trained in perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders through Postpartum Support International and I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapist. I am also a volunteer PSI coordinator in my home country, Poland. I am currently working on becoming a Certified Happiest Baby Educator. I am listed as a Motherfigure and PSI provider, and belong to Mahmee Network to support and improve maternal and child accessibility to healthcare.

I have been featured in many Polish newspapers and magazines, as well as, Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily Mail, I Am One podcast, and marriage.com portal as the featured expert on issues including: postpartum period and maternal mental health, birth trauma, happiness, transitioning into adulthood, and adjusting to social distancing and quarantine in times of pandemic.

I am fluent in Polish and I am highly engaged in helping Polish community in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

I am a founder of an educational site: https://pogadankipoporodzie.pl spreading awareness about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders in Poland.
