Meet Monika
Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what to do next. You’re not alone and there’s nothing wrong with you for feeling that way. Life can be a lot, especially when you’ve been holding so much for so long. You deserve a place where you can exhale, let the guard down a bit, and not have to pretend you’re “fine.”
I’m here to offer a space where you can be heard, understood, and seen for who you really are—not just the version of you the world expects. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, parenting challenges, career changes, relationship struggles, or concerns about your child’s behavior, we’ll explore it together at a pace that feels right. You don’t have to show up with solutions or a plan. You just have to show up as you are.
My approach is grounded, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe you already carry so many strengths—sometimes they just get buried beneath exhaustion, pressure, or self-doubt. My role is to help you reconnect with those parts of yourself so you can feel more confident, more steady, and more in control of your life.
If you’re coming in as a couple, I can help you and your partner slow down, communicate more clearly, repair the places that feel tender, and rebuild connection in a way that feels safe and honest for both of you.
Therapy is a place where you don’t have to rush, perform, or get it “right.” It’s a space to reflect, breathe, and gently unravel what’s been weighing on you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin. in Couples therapy we will navigate your challenges together—step by step—so you can move toward a life that feels more balanced, grounded, and true to who you are.
My background
My name is Monika Koptyra, LPC, LBC. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavioral Consultant with over 15 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful personal growth.
My journey began in Warsaw, Poland, where I earned a Master’s Degree in Social Psychology from the renowned SWPS University. Driven by a passion for deeper clinical work, I relocated to Philadelphia and completed my second Master’s Degree program in Clinical Counseling Psychology at La Salle University.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in diverse clinical settings—from outpatient specialty clinics to intensive behavioral health services (IBHS). My clients range across the lifespan and present with concerns such as anxiety, mood disorders, stress, self-esteem, parenting, career transitions, relationship and marital issues, and child behavior challenges.
I take a holistic, integrative approach to therapy, drawing from evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Behavior Modification. I also use Relaxation Techniques to help clients manage stress and regain emotional balance.
As a couples counselor, I’ve completed Level 1 Clinical Training in the Gottman Method and use its research-backed tools to help partners strengthen connection, improve communication, and resolve conflict more effectively.
My mission is to create a safe, compassionate space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to make lasting change. We work on exploring all aspects of partnership that influence well-being—emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual—to unlock each person’s inner resilience and potential.
Outside of clinical practice, I supervise behavioral health professionals in the IBHS program and teach at St. Adalbert Polish Language School in Philadelphia. I’m also actively involved in the local Polish community, offering pro bono consultations for individuals navigating life transitions and cultural adjustment.
