Your Journey to Self Love
What is self-love? It is a necessity to our happiness! It is a basis of our good mood, self -affirmation, and self-confidence. It is a source of making right decisions, accepting mistakes, and working on self-acceptance rather than on acceptance by other people. Our self-love should be based on three principles: respect, kindness, and knowledge. Respect to yourself means that you are accepting who you are with your perfusions and imperfections and avoid criticizing and “bullying” your true self. Kindness is the way you treat yourself and other people. Finally, knowledge is based on understanding who you are, what you need and want. Self-love allows you to go through life with confidence and certainty even in the most uncertain times of your life. It gives you the opportunity to get to know who you really are and where you want to go.
To start loving yourself, you will need to learn how to be nice to your own personal self. Rather than focusing on your mistakes and criticizing yourself as a person, focus on your achievements, little accomplishments of each day. Use self-affirmaitons while looking at yourself in a mirror and praise yourself for every positive aspect of your life that you created. Become a better person: don’t be afraid to be assertive, don’t be afraid to take care of your needs first, show kindness and compassion not only to other people but most of all, to yourself.
When you start loving yourself, you will realize that you can love others and accept them with more understanding, compassion, and sincerity. Self love is a key to our personal fulfillment and internal balance. As Oscar Wilde once said: “To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
