Why Therapy?

Therapy and counseling can help individuals to express their feelings in a safe and non – judgmental environment. Therapy allows people to feel heard and understood. Through mutual respect, understanding, and positive regard, clients and their therapist uncover the underlying causes of their presenting problems, find solutions to improve their every day functioning, and enhance clients’ life quality by providing them with tools that they can utilize in their every day life.

Confidentiality and Privacy Policy:

Therapy sessions are strictly confidential and you decide who will be notified and involved in your sessions. Without written permission, I am not going to disclose nor talk to anybody about our therapy sessions. However, there are certain instances in which a therapist would break the confidentiality as a therapist has that right provided by law . Those instances include suspected child/dependent adult/elder abuse, threat of serious bodily harm to another person/s, intention to harm himself/herself. This subject will be explained in full detail during the initial therapy session.

Sliding Fee:

I do accept a sliding fee scale for lower income clients. That means, the fee of the session is much lower than the regular out of pocket cost and is based on households’ yearly income.

Medication vs.Psychotherapy:

It is established that medication gives only a temporary relief to struggles and emotional problems. Medication doesn’t teach you coping strategies, and doesn’t resolve the underlying causes of your struggles. Medication is like a “band-aid” – you put it on to prevent the infection but it doesn’t help you to heal. Therapy has healing qualities, addresses the distress in your life, and helps you to bring balance into your life.

Fees and Insurance:

I offer In – Network services for clients with Highmark, BCBS, Cigna, UBH, Optum.
I am considered an Out-Of-Network provider for the other, not mentioned above, insurance companies. That means, that I am partially covered by almost all PPO and POS insurance policies and you are responsible to pay at the time of the session. However, after each session, I provide you with the “Superbill” and help you with the submission of the invoice to your insurance company for subsequent reimbursement. With the passing of the Mental Health Parity Act (MHPA), you will be able to get back the partial of my fee.

Cancelation policy:

I require 24 hours cancelation time. Please respect my time and notify my if you know that you cannot attend a scheduled session. That time will give me an opportunity to assign another client and fill in your spot.
